The classical varieties are quarried in Norway as well as the Ukraine. The most typical stones have a blue and black ground-mass. The blue crystals are so numerous and large compared to the black crystals that they take up almost the entire structure of the stone. Granite colors of blue homogeneous stones range from light to dark blue with many hues and shades in between. Although infrequent, variations in the deepness of the granite color occurs. Some varieties have almost a smoky tint or a play of color which can dim the brightness of the blue crystals. Blue Homogeneous Examples: Homogeneous blue granite colors are used on both interiors and exteriors. This stone is used for flooring, facings, countertops, and in luxury furnishings. The darker stones are also used for monuments, headstones, or funerary art.
